As a lead product designer at Indigo Slate, I worked with a small team of developers, art directors, product designers, and business consultants to help Trimont create a real estate investment portal for their clients.
Challenges & Opportunities
The team and I went into this project with no knowledge of how the commercial real estate investment industry works. We spent weeks with the client working to understand the industry so we could be sure the UI/UX solutions we were proposing were relevant.
The commercial real estate investment industry has been slow to digitize. Triview was Trimont's first attempt at converting a part of their core business into a digital product that would make sense to their customer base.
At the time, none of Trimont's competition had a similar product offering. Trimont knew that there were similar products in development so our timeline was very tight.
What I Learned
Immersing yourself in the unique language, culture, and processes of your target demographics is really important when designing niche software tools.
Building out a design system framework as early as possible helps complex projects stay on budget and time.
